Update (May 15):
Android Oreo update has finally been pushed out by US Cellular for Galaxy S8 and S8+. More information here.
Original story:
While majority of the carrier locked as well as the unlocked models of Galaxy S8/S8+ in US have even received monthly security updates after Android 8.0’s arrival, looks like US Cellular is still waiting for the right timing to roll out the Oreo update to S8 devices on its network.
Well, that’s what’s coming to light.
Galaxy S8 and S8+ users operating on US Cellular are disappointed because of the delay, and have been routing to different help forums to bring the matter to light (1,2,3,4). Take a look at some of the recent user comments:
Still waiting! Whats up with this? everyone else has gotten the update except US Cellular. #stupid
Guess Who’s very very very upset with USC right. We are the ONLY carrier without the update and haven’t been given a straight answer on twitter. They said next week the first week of April but nope. They flat out lied to us. So pissed
Many of them have reported the same on Twitter as well, and here are some of the recent tweets (1,2,3,4).
It’s worth mentioning that in the first week of April, US Cellular informed an inquiring user on Twitter that the roll out was due in the coming week, but that never happened.
Meanwhile, here’s what the company has been telling the complainants of late:
Hi Robert. Although I don't have an exact date when it will be approved for our network, I can say it will pushed to phones when it is ready. Again, it has to be checked out with our specific network before it can be released to our customers and approval has not yet come. ^JD

So far, the carrier hasn’t given any reason for the delay, and users continue to complaint till date. We hope they either get the Oreo update on board soon, or at least come up with a statement to address those affected. And like always, we are keeping a close watch and will update as and when any further development takes place.
