Good news for OG Pixel and Pixel 2 users who waited for more than half a year, yearning Google to fix the multi-touch functionality which got derailed with arrival of Android 8.1. The search giant has finally confirmed that the May security patch (which has just started rolling out) carries the pill that Pixel users, gamers mainly, were waiting for.

Breath of relief

A Google employee as well as the Pixel User Community Community Manager Earnest informed the complainants a few hours back that the current monthly update fixes the Pixel series multi-touch mess (wherein upon touching the phone’s display with two or more fingers at the same time, the image on screen begins to jump or shake).

Here’s what they said while breaking the news:

Our engineering team has verified a fix that is rolling out in the May update to prevent this from occurring

Fix gets thumbs up from users

Apart from the confirmation from Google itself, several users who have received the update (as it’s still in the roll out process) have given a thumbs up to the fix, saying multi-touch is no more an issue on their phones after the update.

Such reports can be seen on Google’s own issue tracking threads where the problem was being discussed from day one, as well as a couple of Reddit threads discussing the May update.
