After the company recently diagnosed that the problem had something to do with the chipset firmware, they have now confirmed that the fix for the same will be rolling out by the closure of June, this year.

This morning, Google employee Lawrence (from Android Auto team) broke the good news to those complaining for about past eight months, saying the fix will be incorporated in the next Google Play Services release scheduled in June, 2018. They also clarified that this delay in making the fix public is due to the problem being associated with chipset firmware instead of the Android Auto app itself.

We can now confirm that the fix will be going out around the end of June in the next Google Play Services release. We want to get the fix available quickly, but because the problem is actually within the chipset firmware (and not the Android Auto app), we cannot simply update our app to resolve the issue.
