Not even a week, and Backup and Sync (the common client for Google Drive and Google Photos) has received another update bumping the version from 3.40.8839.2105 to 3.40.8921.5350. This time, it’s for offering a quick fix to Mac users encountering app crashes while syncing files.
Going by the reports (that started pouring in just last week), instead of syncing files, the client app crashes throwing a notification stating An error has occurred. Backup & Sync must be stopped. Error 22E46FB1 (as can be seen in the proceeding user shared image).
Here’s how some of those affected word the issue:
App crashes when trying to sync my files!!! Need this fixed immediately…I already reinstalled and logged out of my account while creating a mess with my files now..It says error: 22E46FB1
My Google Backup and Sync is not working on my Mac. I have reinstalled the app. Logged out of my account and logged in again. Nothing works. I keep on getting Error: 22E46FB1.
Considering the urgency of the matter, Google jumped into action right away, and fixed whatever caused the glitch. The company took to Backup and Sync’s official release notes to break the news saying the updated v3.40.8921.5350 has taken care of the issue.
Fixed an issue where Backup and Sync crashed with error 22E46FB1
Not only that, Google also addressed another use-case. A Mac user complained of encountering a different notification stating Something went wrong. Backup and Sync needs to quit. Error: 8F27A77B, leading to forced restart daily. This issue has also been fixed, as the user was suggested to update to the latest version.
So, yet again, Google has fixed some critical Backup and Sync-related issues in time. In case, you were encountering ‘Error 22E46FB1’ or ‘Error 8F27A77B’ on your Mac, you are suggested to update the client application to the latest version, asap.
