Update (March 2): Google Support is now telling users (who didn’t get the code) that the promo is now over, tough luck.

Original story follows:

If you remember, when Google announced the Pixel 2 series of smartphones last year, the company also launched a promo where-in those purchasing the new devices during a specific period were being offered the Home Mini smart speaker for free.

At-least some of those who availed the deal got their vouchers/codes in time. However sadly, not everybody has been lucky. From what we are seeing currently, a large number of Pixel 2 buyers are still complaining that they are yet to get their code/voucher.

And the reason that’s really worrying is the fact that the last date for code redemption is February 28.

Complaints are spread across Reddit, Google Forums, and even Twitter – we’ve linked only a handful here, but a simple Google search would tell you how widespread the problem is.

Following are some reports we selected to highlight:

I picked up the pixel 2 xl in early dec 2017 when they had a promo for the free google home mini. They told me I had to wait 6-8 weeks for an email voucher. I waited. Nothing. Contacted Google and they said they’d “look into it”. That was 2 weeks ago. I contacted them again and they said that they’re still “investigating”.

I ordered mine December 29th and still haven’t gotten the code

same here, bought around 13 December…..no code at all

I ordered my Pixel 2 XL on December 20th from the UK Google play store. I’m pretty sure the deal included a free Google Home Mini (to be delivered within 4-6 weeks) , but I’ve never received any email confirming this.

One disgruntled user has even come up with a Twitter hash tag #WheresMyGoogleHomeMini – you can read all related tweets here.

Some users revealed after they were done waiting, they had to manually follow up with Google to get their code.

I got mine about a week ago. Ordered late December. I followed up with Google support and a few days later I got my code. They told me it could take weeks

I had to call them and then got my code. Still had to pay shipping.

Took me about 15 emails/phone calls with Google before a rep was finally able to get me a code in real-time. This was after 9 weeks from ordering (Canada). Absolutely ridiculous. Once I got the code and paid for shipping I had it within a day.

There’s currently no information on the reason behind the delay, although some users say Google reps acknowledge that this process is taking time. If you are also waiting for your Home Mini code/voucher, we suggest you get in touch with Google Support directly. Also, don’t forget to share your experience with us in comments below.
