Google Home app for iOS has received a new update, bumping the version to 1.27.120522. Change-log for the update reveals the update brings along a new way to view movie trailers. Here’s what the ‘What’s New‘ section of the app’s iTunes listing says:
Browse:
Check out a fun way to browse trailers on your TV with the new trailer lean-back experience — tap ‘play trailer’ on a movie page and swipe up to browse more related trailers
In a look out for more information, we stumbled upon a thread on Reddit’s Google Home section, where the ongoing discussion revealed the update is also available on Android (the Google Play listing for the app doesn’t reflect this though).
Here’s what some of the users who got the feature have to say about it:
I think I get it: Go into the home app and choose “Browse”. Go down to Google play movies section and tap on a movie. There is a “Play trailer” button that lets you watch a trailer by casting to a Chromecast. When casting, you can swipe up to pick more trailers to watch next
“OK Google show ‘Black Panthers’ trailers on my office tv”.
shows me some key frames for trailers on my tv, says, “OK showing ‘Black Panther’ trailers on office TV. Which one do you want?
“Show me the third one”.
Shows me the trailer.
This works very nicely. Of course it presumes that you have a Chromecast connected TV and a Google Home device.
So, if you have an iOS device with the Google Home app installed on it, check for the update and don’t forget to drop in a comment about your experience with the new feature.
