Motorola’s flagship Moto Z2 Force is no different from other smartphones in its league, for there are multiple issues plaguing the device. A new glitch has now caught our sight, wherein, it’s not possible to switch between keyboards if the one-button navigation mode is on. Thankfully, Motorola is not only aware of the problem, but will also be fixing it soon.

A couple of days back, one of the senior MotoAgents Ella confirmed the feature is broken while reverting back to the concerned user on the official Motorola/Lenovo forum. Initially, they acknowledged the issue, and later on added that the same shall be fixed in an update.

Following are both the comments of MotoAgent Ella addressing the problem:

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We were able to duplicate and we’ll escalate to the proper team

We had an update from our Engineers and it should be fixed in the future update

Going by reports on the official Motorola Community and Reddit, basically on enabling one-button navigation in Moto Actions, you can not switch keyboards from notification anymore. The problem, some users say, appears to have creeped in after the Android Oreo update. Here’s how some of the complainants explain the matter:

After upgraded to 8.0, if i switch on one-button nav in Moto Actions, I can not switch keyboard from noticification, which 7.1 did. If i turn off one-button nav, it is able to switch in navigation bar

I switch keyboards a lot since I use a password manager to autofill passwords, credit card info, etc and for some reason I can’t change my keyboard via the keyboard notification in the notification shade. Whenever I click the notification (the one that says “Android System Change keyboard Multilingual typing – Gboard”), the notification shade just closes and the keyboard selector never shows up. It shows up fine when using the on-screen button in the bottom right, but I really wanted to use one button nav instead

For those who aren’t aware, enabling one button navigation allows users to navigate using the device’s fingerprint sensor. But sadly, it seems to be breaking other vital functionalities.

As already mentioned above, Motorola will be fixing what’s broken, but there’s no information as to how long will it take. We hope they do it sooner than later. Meanwhile, we are keeping a close watch on all related developments and will keep you posted.
