Good news for Sony Xperia XZ1/ XZ1 Compact users facing random reboots on their units. Google has fixed the problem, and will be rolling out the fix in a future build.
The confirmation came from a Google employee on the company’s official issue tracking website, where the matter was being discussed since October, 2017. Here’s what they said:
The development team has fixed the issue that you have reported and it will be available in a future build
As we highlighted in our original coverage of the matter, these flagship devices basically encountered random freezes during different scenarios (like while using WhatsApp, Bluetooth, Camera, or while re-dialing a call from the call log), followed by reboots/restarts multiple times a day. But, not any more, as the problem will bid adieu soon.
The fix will reach Xperia XZ1 and XZ1 Compact units in the form of a firmware update (presumably, sometime during this month or in March). Rest assured, we’ll update whenever the fix gets live. So keep a tab here for all related developments.
We are not sure if it works for all, but there’s a workaround posted on concerned issue tracker thread which you can try hands on until the official fix arrives.
