Just last week, we uncovered an Android Auto-Google Play Music glitch which the company is currently looking into. And now another issue with Google Assistant on Android Auto is coming to light – it’s throwing error notifications when inquired about weather.
What’s being reported on the official Android Auto Users Community is that Google Assistant now instead of providing the asked for weather information, is throwing an error stating Sorry can’t help with that yet. Here’s how some of those affected word the issue:
I am not happy with latest Google Assistant on AA. Before I could get weather updates but now I cannot with her saying “Sorry I can’t help with that yet” therefore in order to get weather update
Even basic things that used to work, are now horribly broken for me “Will it rain today”. “Sorry can’t help with that yet.” Fails I’m both connected to head unit mode, and using android auto phone mode. Works perfectly using launcher voice search. Has something been totally broken in latest AA release???
One of the users also confirmed that Google Assistant works fine outside of Android Auto. Apart from the aforementioned problem, some have also reported issues while accessing music or texting.
It’s worth mentioning that users with Android Auto v2.9.574924, Google Assistant v0.1.174051423, and Google app v7.18.50.21.arm64 on OS 8.1.0 (January Security Patch) are the ones facing the problem.
That said, what’s relieving is the Google Assistant team is looking into what could have caused the problem. The confirmation came from Google employee Yurim (Android Auto team) who broke the news this morning.
Thanks all. The Google Assistant team is investigating this issue
While it’s relieving that the company is looking into the matter, there’s no known time line as to how long will it take to fix what’s broken. We hope they do it sooner than later. Meanwhile, we are keeping a close watch on all related developments and will update as and when anything news-worthy occurs.
