Android Oreo breaks another functionality. This time with Motorola Moto Z2 Force units being the target.

After upgrading to Android 8.0, users with T-Mobile variants of the Moto Z2 Force have been chiming about audio issues during calls, wherein the other person is not able to hear them, while they can hear everything clearly.

Reports indicate that when a T-Mobile Moto Z2 Force customer makes a VoLTE call to another T-Mobile customer having a VoLTE enabled Samsung Galaxy device, the callee is not able to hear anything. Specifically, the issue is being reported when calls are being made to Galaxy S7/S7 Edge devices.

For those who aren’t aware, VoLTE is voice over LTE (i.e. voice calls over a 4G LTE network).

The problem in question seems quite widespread, as it is been reported on different help forums, as well as on micro blogging site Twitter.

We could also locate a thread on the official T-Mobile forum, where the same problem is being discussed, but the carrier hasn’t said anything officially yet.

What’s relieving is that the wide number of reports has got the American multinational telecom company to swing into action. One of the MotoAgents on the official Motorola help forum confirmed the audio glitch while reverting back to a complainant.

In addition, they also asked those affected for more details in order to debug whatever is broken. Following is their complete statement:

While it’s relieving that at least the problem has been officially acknowledged, there’s no time line known as to how long will it take to fix, as currently it’s in the phase of investigation only. We hope they catch hold of the root cause, and fix it sooner than later.

Meanwhile, disabling HD voice or VoLTE is the only temporary workaround (confirmed by the experts). However, do keep in mind that doing this will disable Voice/Data as well.
