When iPhones are rife with bugs, how can Apple watches stay behind, right? We stumbled upon multiple watchOS-related issues – being reported by users on various online forums – that we think are worth highlighting.
The list includes notifications not showing up, apps freezing, device crashing/restating, and missing features. As per reports, almost all these problems started rearing their ugly heads after the watchOS 4.2 update, which arrived last month. So, without further ado, let us discuss them one by one.
Activity Ring Notifications broken
Back in December, Apple pushed out the watchOS 4.2 update, and since then Apple Watch owners – specifically the ones with Series 2 units – are complaining about missing Activity App notifications/alerts related to activity reminders (like stand goal completions, move goal completions) on closing the rings.
In addition to posts on official Apple forums, we also found some tweets reporting the same problem:

One of the affected users, who got in touch with Apple support, also shared what they got to hear, confirming that the issue was initiated with 4.2 OS update.
But while digging deep we could also locate similar complaints from users after the watchOS 4.0 update (which was pushed in September). So it’s difficult to comment exactly which update brought along the problem. However, given that Apple already knows about it, we hope they’ll patch it sooner than later.
Workout App freezes
Apple watch users have also been complaining that the Workout app freezes or crashes randomly, when in use.

As a result of freezing, tapping or scrolling becomes unresponsive, and restarting the watch or force quitting the app is the only way out.
Regarding the glitch – which appears to affect all Apple Watch models – there’s a mixed bag of complaints, with some saying the problem initiated after watchOS 4/ 4.1, while majority of those affected blame the recent 4.2 OS update. Apple hasn’t said anything officially yet, but complaints continue to escalate.
Apple watches crashing/rebooting
Apple Watch users – irrespective of the model they are using – are also cribbing about their units frequently crashing or restating after the recent OS update.
Some of the affected users also took to Twitter to chime about the same:

‘Mute Reminders for Today’ setting gone
And finally, turns out the ‘Mute Reminders from today’ setting has been pulled from the latest version of the Watch app.
The following user shared screenshot clearly shows the option in question is no where to be seen:
The confirmation about the aforementioned change came from one of the experts on Apple Community while reverting back to a complainant who pointed out that the feature was missing after the release of OS 4.2. Furthermore, the expert added that disabling ‘Daily Coaching’ would do the needful.
Not sure if Apple is going to publicly acknowledge these problems, but the least we expect from the company is to fix the issues as soon as possible.
