Along with the high-pitch clicking/ticking noise on the Google Pixel 2, also came complaints about whining/screeching sound from the device’s speaker when on call. While Google fixed the former with the November security update, the latter has been waiting for a fix. That was until now, as the company has confirmed a software update will be pushed out to fix the problem.

Google employee Orrin (who is also the Community Manager on the official Pixel User Community) posted this morning on one the relevant threads, that an update will be rolling out in the coming weeks to eliminate the buzzing noise heard during calls on the Pixel 2.

Here’s what exactly they said:

We’re rolling out a software update in the coming weeks which eliminates a faint buzzing sound on some Pixel 2 devices when the phone is placed to your ear during a phone call

If we are to make an educated guess, the ‘coming weeks’ time line means the fix will arrive as part of the December security update. We suggest you to keep a tab here, as we’ll let you know whenever the update goes live.
