As most of you will possibly be aware, Google Play Music is the default music app on Samsung’s flagship devices Galaxy S8/S8+. The app works with Samsung’s virtual assistant Bixby– which launches the requested music. But the functionality is broken and not working as intended.
Samsung users have been chiming that Bixby voice commands are failing to deliver the requested music. Voice commands like play music, play song, play next song, stop music, open Google Play Music and play a particular song etc all fall on deaf ears. Looks like I’m not able to that is all that Bixby notifies.
The aforementioned Bixby voice problem is reported both for Google Play Music as well as Samsung Music. It’s worth mentioning that workarounds like repeating the command (saying ‘open open’) or making quick commands is what works for some, but not for all (see video below).
After a long wait, the problem in question finally got addressed by a Samsung moderator, who was able to replicate the aforementioned glitch. Here’s what they said in their recent post:
I’ve been able to replicate this on my device and have sent off your feedback to see if I can get an answer
It’s a relief that the problem has been brought into Samsung’s knowledge, and we are hoping that the company will catch hold of the root cause, and fix it sooner than later.
