iPhone vs. Pixel 2 debate is simple for me. I’ll go with what actually works. My new Pixel 2 worked well for a while...now camera crashes/freezes. Factory resets (recommended fix) does nothing. Kids went ziplining but I missed so many photos. Unfortunate. #TeamPixel #madebygoogle pic.twitter.com/G5bEgOnrEH

Update (July 10):
Google finally acknowledges the issue.
Original story:
Google’s latest flagship Pixel 2 devices have captured the most headlines, with new problems showing up every passing day. With all that limelight on the display and Bluetooth, the camera must have been feeling left out. Well not anymore.
Recently, a new issue on Pixel 2 has come to light, where the device’s Camera app crashes merely on opening.
As can be seen in the picture shared by the user in the aforementioned tweet, The camera device encountered a fatal error is the notification that shows up on accessing the Camera app.
While some of the users mention that the crash shows up sporadically, others stress that the app crashes every time they open it, which in turn renders the camera from being used. Also, in some cases, toggling the Bluetooth on and off seems to resolve the issue temporarily, but not for all.
With user complaints pouring on different help forums, Google has finally swung into action and started investigating the matter in question. Google employee Orrin (who is also the Community Manager at Pixel User Community) is now asking those affected for bug reports, in order to investigate the matter in detail.
I’m going to be reaching out privately for bug reports. Please keep an eye out for my email
For now it’s relieving that Google has started debugging the problem, and we are hopeful that it will be resolved sooner than later. Meanwhile, we suggested you stay connected with us, as we’ll keep posting all relevant updates, as and when they arrive.
