From Android to iOS, virtual assistant is a modern day technology that’s slowly becoming omnipresent in high-end smartphones at-least. Just like Assistant (on Google and some other phones) and Siri on Apple devices, Samsung’s high-end phones come baked with Bixby. But, as it stands true for technology, things can get out of order anytime.

Looks like after Assistant, it’s now Bixby’s turn to be hit by a major bug.

Specifically, for more than three weeks now, some Galaxy S8 Active users have been voicing on the official Samsung help forum that Bixby doesn’t open the Calendar app when it’s asked to do so, suggesting to update the app instead.

Following is a user-shared screenshot which clearly shows the message:

The catch here that updating is not an option, as Galaxy Apps reflect no pending updates. So, despite of having the latest version for both Bixby as well as Calendar, users are not being able to access the Calendar app through the assistant.

A quick look at the posts on the official help forum conveys that Samsung’s aware of the issue.

Though one of the Samsung moderator is actively involved, they haven’t heard back anything from the company yet. So it’s difficult to say whether or not the problem is even being worked on.

Given the fact that virtual assistants are mostly used for calendar activities like reminders and appointments, the issue affects Bixby users big-time. So we hope it gets fixed sooner than later. And like always, we suggest you keep a tab here for all related updates, as we’ll keep posting as and when they occur.
