We understand that Google never promised the moon with its new gen Pixel 2 phones, but what all came to light in the past few weeks, even that wasn’t expected. And now, a couple of new issues – USB-C headphone dongle not working and WiFi disconnection – have joined the the catalog of Pixel 2 troubles.
To begin with, Pixel 2 and 2 XL users have been complaining – both on Pixel User Community as well as Reddit – that the 3.5mm to USB-C adapter is not working as intended. What’s being reported is that the phone ends up playing sound through speakers, ignoring the headphones plugged in through the adapter.
For its part, Google has started investigating the problem, with a company employee Orrin asking for bug reports from those who are experiencing the issue. Here’s exactly what he said:
Moving on to the next issue, Pixel 2 XL users have been complaining on Reddit that WiFi disconnects randomly on their devices. The problem in question is mainly being reported by those in a mesh network environment. Though the issue is not reported by a very large number of users, Google’s is still asking users for bug reports to investigate it further.
Here’s Orrin’s recent post related to the problem:
It’s also worth mentioning that WiFi disconnection is not a new problem, as Pixel XL users have been complaining about WiFi drops after updating to Android Oreo. But, there’s no information as to whether the WiFi disconnection/drops on Pixel XL and Pixel 2 XL – both running Oreo – are related or not.
Currently, all these issues are being investigated by Google, and we are hopeful that they will be resolved sooner than later. Meanwhile, we suggested you stay connected with us, as we’ll keep posting all relevant updates related to these problems, as and when they arrive.
