Apart form other issues plaguing Backup and Sync (the client application for Google Photos and Google Drive), back in September, users started complaining about random sync notifications. The issue – not being a masses concern, as was only reported by a few – was not acknowledged by Google. But, with release of the client’s latest version (version 3.37), Google calls the glitch fixed.
The actual problem reported on the official Drive forum was that a notification popped-up – on the left-upper corner of desktop screen – whenever Drive synced or changed anything (other than the one displayed after clicking on the system tray icon).
One of the affected users also mentioned that the pop-up flashed randomly, and the only way to get rid of it was by clicking on some menu item.
Another added that in case of a shared document/file, if the other person updates the file, the notification displays then as well.
As the sync-notification pop-up was pointed out only by few, it never gained the lime-light to be officially acknowledged. But, looks like the company was silently working on it, as with the launch on the client’s v3.37, a Google employee updated the complainants that the issue has been taken care of.
